The past several months have brought about many changes in Lee County. Sometimes change can be scary but often it can be liberating. Alan Watts has some wise words about change: "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." Kim and I have taken this idea to heart as we have gotten to know you the past several months. Let me tell you, it has truly been a "dance."
One thing that has been extraordinarily special about our time so far is seeing the unity that is such a strong part of Lee County. We spend much of our time going to many different places and working with many different personalities but what sticks out at us is this: We see a dynamic group of people coming together for one purpose - to promote excellence and create a place where every student feels valued. You may not know what is going on at the school a mile down the road but I can tell you that the values, purpose, and mission are the same as what you see in your school.
Seeing all of this made us want to organize something new, something special, something inspirational for you. Some of you may have heard of Edcamp. Edcamp is an "unconference" in which the schedule is not set until the morning of the event. We hope this will be an opportunity for you to meet with others who are as passionate and dedicated as you are. I will share more about Edcamp Lee as we approach the event but below is a video that will tell you a little more about what Edcamp is. Please join us as we bring this awesome event to Lee County on February 16. To learn more, visit the Edcamp Lee page.
